Lubango is a city and municipality in Angola, the capital of the province of Huíla.
It has a population of 876 339 inhabitants and a territorial area of 3 147 km², being the most populous municipality in the province, in the southern region of Angola, and the sixth-most populous in the country, the first outside the province of Luanda.
It developed mainly from the "colony of Sá da Bandeira", taking that name between 1884 and 1975, while the municipality was always called Lubango. After the country's independence, both the city and the municipality definitively took the name of Lubango.
The city of Lubango forms the virtual Metropolitan Region of Lubango with its neighbors Chibia and Humpata, an area of strong conurbation and connection of urban services.
After departing from the hotel, we will visit the Tundavala Gap. Tundavala gap is a huge hollow of about 1200m, it is part of the Serra da Leba mountain, about 18 km from Lubango. It is considered one of the 7 wonders of Angola. It is on the cliffs of the Tundavala that the Central Plateau of Angola ends. The plateau exceeds 2200 meters of altitude and falls abruptly to about 1000 meters of altitude, causing a dazzling gap with colossal crevices in the mountain.
Departure to visit Serra da Leba. The Leba mountain is an architectural formation designed in a mountainous area, seen from the Miradouro. The famous and beautiful view of the Leba was executed by several engineers but only became famous after the Portuguese engineer Mária Alice Leba had completed the road.
Continue our visit to see the enormous statue dedicated to Jesus Christ, with open arms, raised to 2,100 meters of height at the top of the mountain of the Chela. From this viewpoint, one can embrace the beautiful capital of the province of Huíla and contemplate probably the most beautiful sunset in Angola.
